My grandma was born Alma Cox. One day she noticed a pretty lady with the name Elnora & took the name for her middle name. So her kids/grandkids called her Alma Elnora Cox LeForce.
She was the daughter of Samuel S. Cox & Laura Josephine Roark. Laura died in 1907 then Samuel married Luisia Davidson Price.
Samuel was the son of Charles R. Cox & Nancy Freeman. Charles’ second wife was Lydia M. Stall.
Charles was the son of Samuel Cox & Mary Turner.
Samuel was the son of Phineas Cox & Barbary Stump.
Again Laura died in 1907 while giving birth to her last child Leonard…Leonard also died that day. Laura was the daughter of Joseph Roark & his second wife Georgeann Alexander. His first wife Sarah Proctor died the same year he married his second wife.
Joseph was the son of Josiah Roark & Ruth Campbell.
Josiah Roark was the son of William Roark & Sarah Dorris.
Samuel S. & Laura’s children were…along with my grandma…Charles Franklin, Otto, an unnamed child, Ethel Mae, Myrtle R., Newman N., Beulah, & of course the lil baby Leonard who died along with his mom.
Samuel S. & Luisia’s children were Louise & Johnnie.
I’m not exactly sure what Samuel did before they got here but once here he farmed & was also the Town Marshall of Centralia, OK. He & his second wife/family shared a property with his daughter Beulah & her husband Claude Elmer Burns. This property is right down the road from my grandpa & grandma’s property.
